It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

I did a post last year on whether to put my huge Christmas tree up....and the end result was no Christmas tree.

It turns out my tree and it's 100's of ornaments are down at my Mums stored in her garage.  That tree is going.  It's too big and the decorations I'll probably sell on eBay and some I'll hold onto because they are too beautiful not to....I may just use them another time.

In the mean time I've been doing  some sneaky shopping on Etsy, and I have quite a little collection of vintage ornaments coming from the US.  Around 10 bright pink decorations, and the rest soft pinks, aqua, pale green, brushed silvers and golds....all to tie together in a smaller tree or maybe just some willow branches.

I don't think there will be a tree this year, but I'll have the decorations for the following year.....and I may just add to it slowly over the next 12 months.

Don't you just think vintage tree decorations are beautiful?

  1. These decorations are lovely. This year my tree is up but is largely bare as I can't stand the trash they sell as decorations in the stores. I may have to start looking on etsy too!

    1. I agree 100% Emma....If it helps I found Etsy cheaper for vintage decs than eBay. I will say they're still not cheap cheap, but I figure if looked after carefully they'll be treasured and last another lifetime....and over the years I'm sure the collection will grow. Search out Shiny Brite on Etsy, it's a vintage US brand....it's a help when searching....good luck, and you've got a whole 12 months now to fill that tree!

    1. You should Tammi, but be warned it's slightly addictive, between decs and Pyrex I'm in trouble!

  3. I've never thought of buying vintage ornaments but you've definitely given me something to think about in future years. For now, all we have are some plain silver ornaments I bought from Bed Bath & Table 2 years ago. I think they give a lovely neutral canvas, but it will be nice to start layering other colours and patterns in the years to come.

    1. Can't go past a vintage decoration Ronnie...there are some fabulous decorations to be found....I also tend to think that if they're still around and usuable after 20,30,40 or 50 years they're worth the money.
