Show Us Your Pink Bits.....

The weather has been a little kinder ...a rosy hue has come over the household as the days seem a little longer and we move one more step into Spring, and wave goodbye to Winter....a few things from the last couple of days.....all a little pinky if you don't mind.

Enjoy,

Blog Blues.....

I've got the blog blues....I feel my blog has lost its way, in other words, I'm not altogether happy with it.  You'll notice some changes.  It's going to be more photo orientated and less on the words.  I'm loving my camera too much and I am slowly starting to see everything as a photo opportunity.  Every post will now be capturing things from my week.  Personally I love a photo.  The blogs that truly captivate me are the ones that are more visual.  I think a lot of the time the picture tells the story.....and don't worry I'll still be popping photos up of work that I'm doing, start, middle and completion.

Enjoy,

Vicki

eBay.....Hello Again

I haven't been on eBay in around 9 months....well now that I've stopped searching for Fuzzy Wuzzy Yarn, I tend to look for vintage items on Etsy...somehow eBay had just escaped me.

Last week I noted that Etsy have done some very silly changes to their site.  Playing around with the search button, not classifying vintage or handmade....the help forums from sellers who are up in arms about these changes makes for great reading.  I've even entered into the debate myself.  I've noted that the views at my Etsy store has also nose dived like everyone elses.  I get more traffic to my store now from this blog, blogs that I've been featured on, Pinterest, Ravelry and my Facebook page....the adhoc searches just don't exist....and I'm even struggling to find my own listings when I do a search.

After I couldn't refine my search for bed linen down to retro or vintage without having to sift through every piece of bed linen, I headed over to eBay.

What a score....100% cotton sheets one plain one patterned with broderie anglaise,  in a very retro orange and gold...with 2 matching pillow slips, all still boxed and in perfect condition and made in Australia.  They were manufactured by a department store we used to have in Australia called Waltons, they closed in the early 80's if my memory is correct....anyway Buy it Now $40 AUD thank you very much....and I could not be happier.

I never have luck at oppies or eBay so I'm pretty happy.....I've taken them over to the laundromat for a good soak and starch, so when they're on the bed I'll pop up a photo.....I'm still on the flannel sheets at the moment....it's still a little chilly right about now!

Does anyone else score well at the oppies or eBay.  What's your best find?

Day 22 ..... Home

This is a sort of August Photo A Day post and a sort of teeny tiny blog post.....Today is Home.....and with that, yesterday I had a work place injury......twice no less!!

I've gouged the back of my hand.....and seriously folks I don't remember how I did it, and it only happened yesterday.  I know I was looking for my keys and what I do remember was the pain was so excruciating I think I've just erased the incident from my memory....and no I hadn't been drinking!!

I'm now left with a horribly sore gash in the back of my hand....very red and angry and hopefully not infected.....but the worst part of all of this in my black out period of initial pain, I tripped over the sewing machine cover that was on the kitchen floor, and have done a similar injury to the side of my foot......working at home isn't all it's cracked up to be!!

Mixing It Up....

I've never really been one to collect anything....yarn being the only exception, and some lovely old tea cups gifted to me by my Mum.....why do I now feel I need to start a collection of Pyrex?  I know, I know I'm a bit late on the Pyrex band wagon, but I guess, it's pretty, it's fun, reasonably inexpensive (inserts a cough here) and it's functional and it's also very visual and very much back in vogue.

These two pictures are what started it for me....I blame Pinterest....apologies to the owners of the photos as the pinner did not link it back to a site....but I'm in love with the different colours.  Neither is a huge collection, but I think it is one I could strive for without going overboard.

Luck would also have it that I have a white dresser in my kitchen, so I figure this could be a lovely way to stack it.

I'm starting with the blue and today when a spot of boredom overtook me at work, I ebay'd and I etsy'd and entered up with a few pieces to kick off my collection, two pieces of turqouise blue Amish patterned Pyrex......I'm going to mix up the patterning like the blue in the top picture on the top shelf....I'm not really into matchy matchy....As luck would also have it I already have a very large turquoise mixing bowl with pouring spouts, so apart from a couple of blue casserole dishes that will be my next purchases, I'm just about done with blue.

I snuck in a couple of pink pieces.....these pieces are manufactured in the UK under the name Crown Pyrex and have a pink sunflower pattern that I hadn't seen before, so thus my pink collection has also commenced.

I'll keep you updated on my Pyrex progress....and now I have an excuse to freshen up my dresser in the kitchen.....me and a paint brush, not a skill I'm that familiar with.

And I like to always justify these purchases to myself.....it's a cheaper option that collecting Villeroy & Boch Acapulco pieces!!

Day 19 .... Hole

Not used to having blankets with such large holes....but I'm liking it.

How Many Blankets Is Too Many?

Realistically how many blankets should one person be making at the one time....I wish I could just finish one then move onto the next one, but that would just be silly.....why work on one when you can have nine on the go.

Some crochet gold came my way earlier on this week in the form of a tragic 1970's pattern book....sometimes you just have to have the vision to look past the awfulness of the colourway to see the beauty of the pattern.  Suffice to say I just had to make a little headway with it just to get a feel for the pattern!!....and there is another beauty in the book that will be making an appearance at a later date.

September will be finishing blanket month....just you wait and see.

Day 16 .... Food

I'm trying to be economical, that means taking food to work instead of buying it....Lunch, chicken and lettuce sandwich, rice cakes with peanut butter, carrots, celery and cherry toms...and a Tunnocks dark chocolate caramel wafer biscuit....better than anything I could buy!

Taken earlier this month.
