Day 31.....Yourself
Last Day....Yourself.....A selfie I took earlier on this month.....sans make up, just good lighting, the bathroom is always good for that!
What can I say, I share my birth year with some very talented people, Mark Ruffalo, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Judd Apatow, Guy Pearce, Maria Bello, Julia Roberts, Emily Watson, Paul Giamatti, Liev Shreiber, Will Ferrell and the late Kurt Cobain.....I think it was a good year that year!

Day 30.....Down
Down.....An old photo from around 2.5 years ago. I took my niece up on the Southern Star wheel, this was looking down over Melbourne and some scruffy carparking lot that I think is now Costco if my memory is correct....2 weeks later it was out of action....we had a 46c day and some of the metal melted in the heat......it's still out of action although we hear it should be turning around in 6 months time....what a palaver!!

Day 28.....Through
Through......The giant blow up cinema screen breaking through the landscape last night at the Moonlight Cinema in Melbourne's Botanical Gardens.
I hadn't been to the outdoor cinema before, so it was on the list of things I wanted to do this Summer....Done it and don't think I'll be going again....I like my comfy seat, heating and or cooling depending on the weather, last night was a little chilly even for a Summer evening....I like things to be bug free and creepy crawly free....and there was way too many bats flying up above for my liking.
Anyway the movie was fab.....Silver Linings Playbook, can't recommend it enough.....but next time I'll be taking my seat in a cinema!

Day 27......Sun
Sun.......Well sunset taken last year sometime in Kyneton, Victoria.....Apologies that there is not Day 26, the topic didn't really inspire me, and I worked all day and slept all night so time got away!!

Day 25.....Landscape
Landscape
land·scape (lndskp)
noun.
1. An expanse of scenery that can be seen in a single view: a desert landscape.
2. A picture depicting an expanse of scenery.
3. The branch of art dealing with the representation of natural scenery.
4. The aspect of the land characteristic of a particular region: a bleak New England winter landscape.
5. Grounds that have been landscaped: liked the house especially for its landscape.
6. An extensive mental view; an interior prospect: "They occupy the whole landscape of my thought" (James Thurber).
Well the window boxes have survived their second brutal attack by the mother possum and her baby (yes there is two of them).....The little buggers came out early around 8.45pm last Saturday night before it was even dark and starting gnawing the petunias down to the soil....but everything else is thriving. Strawberries are full of flowers ready for fruit. My thyme has bounced back after the first possum attack, and I have one big petunia overhanging the front of the boxes because the pesky possums haven't worked out how to eat that petunia yet!!
My bit of landscaping in this world!

Day 23.....Electric
Electric......Neon sign I saw while walking through Birrarung Marr....It's neon so therefor it must also be electric!! It certainly stood out...it's a Platypus for those who are a little unsure.

Tennis Anyone?
A quick bite to eat with a friend....then a tram ride into the city to watch a night session at the Australian Open Tennis.....Melbourne shines when the tennis is on....good weather, lazy days, fun times and a tournament that everyone apparently loves to come to, and now I see why....We personally don't take ourselves all that seriously in Melbourne....but we do take our sport seriously, we are known as the sporting capital of the world for lots of reasons. Considering I'm not a huge tennis fan, it was a great night out. Melbourne really is a pretty place and just as pretty when the lights go down....I now know why so many people love it just like I do.
Night, it's late.

And it Starts Again.....
I'm going to be cutting fabric for the next month....maybe just two pieces a day!! All incredibly pretty, all incredibly colourful.
I can see why people easily end up with a fabric addiction.

Day 22.......Corner
Corner.....corner of the fabric, corner of the ruler, corner of the cutting board.....it's all about the corners.....and the straight lines.

Day 20.....Something You Saw
Something you saw.....I love the black swans at Albert Park Lake, real characters. Everyone numbered with a little band around its neck.....Swans partner up for life with only a 6% divorce rate apparently. It's cygnet season at the moment, so cuteness abounds.

Day 19......Delicious
Delicious.....these little macarons were. Not ever having fallen under the charm of the macaron, until eating them in Paris at Ladurée, I have always shied away from them here at home. To be quite honest, I've yet to have one that has even come close to what I ate in Paris......until now. La Belle Miette has got to run a pretty close second. My lovely work colleague brought these into work yesterday.....the salted caramel was sublime and the earl grey with chocolate filling was pretty special......so yes, delicious!!

Day 18......Shadow
A reflective shadow is cast in the wet as this lady runs across the Louvre Palace Courtyard to escape the rain. I took this photo in February 1993. It was my second trip to Paris. I've been desperately trying to find the negative for this photo......it's somewhere here at home. It's one of those photos that I'd love to enlarge for a print. The one thing I do remember about this lady, she had a navy blue umbrella with white dots. Fingers crossed I find that colour negative.

Thursday........
I love spending week days at home.....for me it's such an indulgence to work casually, being able to pick and chose the days I work when it suits me.....It does have its down side. No sick or holiday pay and there are times when my work becomes a bit light on, so budgeting for those times can become a bit tricky, but it's the price I pay and I wouldn't change it for the world. I love that I can work dover & madden from home when I need to.....although there is one thing I need to do and that is to put a bit more structure into my days when it is a work at home day.....I seem to find all matter of excuses to stop me from working.....today was certainly one of those days....when I should have been finishing two orders, I found plenty of reasons not to.
Boden jeans turned up today as well as a letter from Lettres d'un Inconnu. I did a couple of hours....not nearly enough of knitting work, whilst laughing way too much to Russell Brand & Matt Morgan radio podcasts.
I watered my window boxes.....did I tell you that they got a haircut in the dead of night by a very ravenous possum earlier on this week?....ate the petunias and the thyme and left everything else!! Picky possum....not usually the norm....anyway, they're slowly bouncing back, and they now get moved inside at night so they don't become the victim of a second brutal attack!
Today is frightfully hot, as I
So with the heat in mind easy dinner, the type of dinner that was made earlier in the day, so it'll probably be eaten cold....vegetable frittata with goats cheese, and that's it....Too hot to go for a walk around the lake, so I think the beach beckons tonight.
Hope it's not too hot for the rest of you and to my friends in the northern part of the world, rug up.

Day 17......Ready
Ready.....Yes ready for another stinking hot day. It's going to 39c/102.2f here in Melbourne today, but we Melburnians just get on with it. Everything continues to roll just like it should!

Day 16.......Two Things
Two things that very rarely change......Tea and porridge for breakfast. Maybe one morning a fortnight I have toast, but not often at all.
Porridge always has fruit in it....varies between blueberries, like this morning, raspberries, blackberries or banana. Sprinkled with walnuts, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.....a big dollop of natural organic yoghurt from Barambah Organics. In my mind the best natural yoghurt in Australia, and then sprinkled with cinammon.....and it's generally two cups of tea.
Best meal of the day in my opinion.....I could live without any other meal, but couldn't live without breakfast.

Day 15......An Ordinary Moment
An ordinary moment.......dropping your toast off the plate, and it always lands butter and vegemite side down.......back to the toaster!

Day 14......Something Yellow
Day 14.....Something Yellow
New phone....Yellow Sony Xperia, arrives on Thursday, I'm not of the Apple phone variety....give me Android anyday. My old Sony Xperia died just as the 24 month contract ended and I did love it, so I decided to upgrade with the new model.......and the bonus of having a yellow phone....I'll be able to find it quickly in the bottom of my handbag!!
