Time keeps on Slippin'

I never intended to stay away for so long......and now it's marching on towards Christmas.  I've been in my job now for 6 months, where has the time gone?

Once again this blog post sees me with no news, or progression on pattern writing.  Full time work is really just that.....full time, with what always seems as no let up.  Trying to always catch up on sleep before catching up with anything, anyone or anybody!

I have made one decision that has turned out to be a good one.....a cleaner.  This has freed up a little bit of time for me and for the first time in what seems like months, I have started to finish some long overdue knitting as well as just knitting items, because I can.  Also a large stash of white Fuzzy Wuzzy came my way via Canada, so I spent a few nights knitting up little Kitty Kat hats....some of which are still available in my Etsy store.....there will be some more to come as I have a lot of this yarn to knit down.

I also spent a considerable amount of what little time I had throwing, donating, gifting and selling off furniture, clothes, books and crockery, as well as throwing years of long held sentimental items.....I just felt it was time to let all of these things go.  I've refreshed some of these items.....new sofa,  bed, chairs, storage for my stuff as well as wool and some new bed linen(s), with a few more things to come, but it is true what they say, you do feel lighter when you're not smothered in stuff and clutter......well I do anyway, and it was a good decision in the end.  Even though it sort of didn't feel totally right at the time.

The only other thing I've done is to put up the Christmas tree......a new 3ft white tree, that sits of the side table filled with beautiful vintage ornaments that I've been buying and stashing over the last few years.....these ornaments weren't cheap but they are so lovely so I figured I needed to get a few extra weeks out of the tree.

Well that's all my news, I promise I won't stay away for too long next time.....fingers crossed the next post will be all about 2 new hat patterns....Purdey bonnet and Purdey earflap......which leads me to say as well how overwhelmed I've been with current pattern purchases.....Clover seems still to be the pattern of the moment, and I just marvel at the beauty of them all when I look at Instagram.....there is literally 100's of them using the tag #cloverearflaphat......so thank you to all who have purchased a pattern or two and I hope you'll all get just as much joy out of Purdey when it's out just before Christmas.

Thanks again

From Little Things Bigger Things Grow.......

I'm sorry there has been no woolly business going on around here....I am working hard to get all my remaining knitting orders completed by Christmas, so therefore I haven't picked up any crochet for weeks now.....my best laid plans of having personal items and blankets and other bits and bobs finished by Christmas are just that......plans, with now no immediate completion dates.....otherwise know as WIP's.

I've also been working long, long hours at my casual job. Longer hours that I anticipated which at this time doesn't leave much time for anything else....thus the lack of blog posts.  On the upside my little garden, is flourishing.  Lots of rain and lots of sunshine, all in one day mind you.....that's Melbourne! I've managed to work out which which seedling is which, and am now waiting patiently for lettuce and radishes to be first for the picking....the tomatoes won't be ready till mid Summer I expect.  I'm loving the teeny tiny garden I've created in such a teeny tiny space.

A couple of other things I'm loving this week are my Danish Duckfeet Sandals.  I've traded in my Saltwater's this Summer for duckfeet, and I'm loving the change.  They have virtually been on my feet since arriving a couple of weeks back.  Also I ordered some vintage fabric Lavender Bags from Little Sally Waters.  I was going to gift some of them, but now they're hanging in most rooms in the house! The smell is just wonderful.

Anyway, that's me done for now.  Hope you're all well, see you next time.

Time.....

I never had the intention of being away for so long, but time has just gotten away.  So to condense down what could be a long post, here's a little of what I've been up to since I've been away.....Knitting orders (nothing new there!!), lost 4.7 kilos in weight, celebrated my 46th birthday, got a small promotion at work, successfully grown chives, mint and parsley whilst still avoiding those pesky possums.  Purchased all the goodies to start a balcony vegetable garden.  Saw a few movies, About time...worst movie I've ever seen, Diana, second worst movie I've ever seen, Captain Phillips and Prisoner, two of the better movies I've seen. Also went to Gold Class cinema for the first time. Internet shopping from The Fat Quarter Shop, buying pre-cut squares for Christmas break quilting time.   Planning another blanket even though I haven't finished the one I'm crocheting now and just spending some time reacquainting myself with the outdoors and embracing the beautiful Melbourne sunshine.

Hope you're all well,

Everything's Gone Green....

The weeks are just blending into one as we start the countdown to Christmas....I'm just trying to get through October!!  I've made a new hat...named Purdey, a little patterned bonnet.  Just trialling the new sizes...the hard bit! Trying to come to grips with green tea, after being a tea with milk girl for a long long time.  I'm telling myself it will taste better in a pretty cup.  Sorting out my wardrobe and realising I've got a lot of green dresses, beads and shoes....and add into the mix my new green bag, which I'm loving a little too much, and judging by the amount of people that have stopped me to ask where I got it from....everyone else is loving it to.....and here we are at Saturday.  Enjoy your weekend.

See you next week. Vic x

A Sad Strange Week.....

It's been an odd week this week in Melbourne, I've been elated that my football team has made it to the Grand Final tomorrow....but there has also been a terrible sadness overshadowing everything else with the abduction and tragic death of a vibrant young woman in inner city Melbourne.  Strangely the weather has turned bitterly cold over the last 12 hours as well and is expected to stay like this all weekend, funnily I thought we'd seen the last of this Winter weather.

I've just kept myself busy and haven't really felt like leaving the house.

Finished my second Noro blanket, received a delivery of vintage Pyrex from the US via Etsy.  A purchase of an apple green handbag for Summer from here.  Cooked beetroot tart tartin from this recipe book River Cottage Veg Everyday Cookbook or find the recipe here....it's delicious. Finished some hat orders, and finally started my first lot of ready to ship CASH hats for my Etsy store which should re-open in early October.

Best of luck to my footy team.....Go Swannies

Blog Blues.....

I've got the blog blues....I feel my blog has lost its way, in other words, I'm not altogether happy with it.  You'll notice some changes.  It's going to be more photo orientated and less on the words.  I'm loving my camera too much and I am slowly starting to see everything as a photo opportunity.  Every post will now be capturing things from my week.  Personally I love a photo.  The blogs that truly captivate me are the ones that are more visual.  I think a lot of the time the picture tells the story.....and don't worry I'll still be popping photos up of work that I'm doing, start, middle and completion.

Enjoy,

Vicki
