Mixing It Up....

I've never really been one to collect anything....yarn being the only exception, and some lovely old tea cups gifted to me by my Mum.....why do I now feel I need to start a collection of Pyrex?  I know, I know I'm a bit late on the Pyrex band wagon, but I guess, it's pretty, it's fun, reasonably inexpensive (inserts a cough here) and it's functional and it's also very visual and very much back in vogue.

These two pictures are what started it for me....I blame Pinterest....apologies to the owners of the photos as the pinner did not link it back to a site....but I'm in love with the different colours.  Neither is a huge collection, but I think it is one I could strive for without going overboard.

Luck would also have it that I have a white dresser in my kitchen, so I figure this could be a lovely way to stack it.

I'm starting with the blue and today when a spot of boredom overtook me at work, I ebay'd and I etsy'd and entered up with a few pieces to kick off my collection, two pieces of turqouise blue Amish patterned Pyrex......I'm going to mix up the patterning like the blue in the top picture on the top shelf....I'm not really into matchy matchy....As luck would also have it I already have a very large turquoise mixing bowl with pouring spouts, so apart from a couple of blue casserole dishes that will be my next purchases, I'm just about done with blue.

I snuck in a couple of pink pieces.....these pieces are manufactured in the UK under the name Crown Pyrex and have a pink sunflower pattern that I hadn't seen before, so thus my pink collection has also commenced.

I'll keep you updated on my Pyrex progress....and now I have an excuse to freshen up my dresser in the kitchen.....me and a paint brush, not a skill I'm that familiar with.

And I like to always justify these purchases to myself.....it's a cheaper option that collecting Villeroy & Boch Acapulco pieces!!

Enjoy Vicki x

  1. I collect various pieces of vintage Pyrex and also Corning Ware's cornflower pattern. No rhyme or reason. If I like it I buy it.

    1. I agree Carol....they're fun to collect, and I like the fact that they're a usable item as well.
